Brockton:Trial in Brockton racial killings starts

BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) – Prosecutors say a Brockton man charged with two racially motivated killings had several items they described as “sexually sadistic and meant for rape and torture” in his room and vehicle.

The prosecution asked that the items, including handcuffs and ball gags, be introduced as evidence at the trial of Keith Luke that started Tuesday with jury selection.

Luke’s lawyer did not object.

Prosecutors say the 26-year-old Luke fatally shot two people of Cape Verdean descent and wounded a third in January 2009. He allegedly told police he wanted to kill “nonwhites.”

He pleaded not guilty to charges including murder.

The Enterprise (http://bit.ly/19sbnCS ) reports that Luke, who once weighed about 300 pounds and appeared in court with a bushy beard and a swastika carved in his forehead, was much thinner, and clean shaven on Tuesday.
