Halifax: Town Meeting approves budget, medical marijuana moratorium

Halifax Town Meeting completed 36 articles of a 64-article warrant Monday night, in addition to completing two special town meeting warrants. The session completed most of the actions required to approve spending, including a $19.7 million operating budget, 12 amendments to the wage and personnel bylaw and purchase of a wide variety of items.

The purchase of a $25,650 variable message board garnered the most attention. Town Meeting approved the purchase by a standing count. It will stand outside the fire station and convey messages from town government to residents. As part of one of the special warrants, the Meeting approved a moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries.
