Hanson: Town Meeting to vote on stormwater management and the “right to farm”

Hanson officials hope a large number of residents show up for Town Meeting tonight in the auditorium at the Middle School.

On the 16 article Special Town meeting warrant are a number of money transfers, an article on stormwater management and an article that changes the bylaw for junk dealers and precious metal collectors in town.

The Annual Town Meeting warrant has 26 articles. Article 6 is for the town’s share of the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District budget. Article 9 asks for close to $300,000 for capital projects including a new dump truck for the Highway Department, and $60,000 for painting and renovations at Town Hall.

Article 24 asks for an amendment to the town’s general bylaws concerning the “right to farm”. The change would encourage the pursuit of agriculture, protects farmlands within the town and promotes agriculture-based economic opportunities. Article 25, if it is approved, will reduce the Community Preservation Act surcharge from 1.5% to 0.5%.

Hanson Town meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
