Today is the first day on the job for Plymouth’s new assistant town manager, Michael Galla. Galla will be present at the Board of Selectmen’s meeting Tuesday night—a meeting that is unusual in several ways.

The Assistant Town Manager’s seat has been vacant for about a year and Michael Galla will occupy that seat for the first time alongside Town Manager Melissa Arrighi.

The meeting will be at the Emergency Operations Center and is scheduled to take about ten minutes so the Board can enter Emergency Operations Training. During the short meeting the Board will deal with licenses and administrative notes.

Mr. Galla comes to town from a Pennsylvania community about half the size of Plymouth and with a different form of government. The Villanova graduate was selected from about 90 applicants for the number two spot on Plymouth’s town management team.

Galla holds a master’s degree in government and political affairs and most recently has worked as director of administration for Horsham Township, a community near Philadelphia.

The Board of Selectmen’s meeting begins Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the EOC in Cedarville at the Fire Station.
