In this May 2, 2013 segment of Goldie Bounce Golf on 95.9 WATD’s The South Shore’s Morning News, PGA of America’s Brian Bain expressed the uber positive sentiment “it’s good times ahead for the golf economy of New England.”
“It started last year, it was sort of the perfect storm last year, the weather was perfect and golf courses were open the most days they had ever been in quite a while and the enthusiasm and optimism has continued so far this Spring,” Bain told SSMN Host Rob Hakala and WATD’s Liza Churchill.
The magic formula to success according to Bain is to get golf courses to “think outside the box a little bit,” with time and money being barriers for people the past few years since the recession of 2008.
He goes on to say, “we’re starting to encourage the golf professionals at their facilities to get a little creative and offer you know, it doesn’t have to always have to be 18 holes, it doesn’t have to always have to be 9 holes … we’re trying to offer alternatives like come out at different times and play for an hour and a half.”
