Weymouth: Car hits building; apartments evacuated

A vehicle struck a building in an apartment complex in Weymouth just after 1:00 p.m on Monday. The driver, identified only as a 35 year-old woman, turned out to be a resident of the Maple Gardens Apartments at 20 Maple Street.

Police say it appears the woman drove her 1997 Honda into a parking space when she struck another vehicle and then continued on into the building.

As a result of some structural damage to the building, a number of apartments were evacuated.

The driver was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

So far, no citations have been issued, as police are trying to determine exactly what happened.
