Abington: Town Meeting to vote on $40.2 million budget and medical marijuana moratorium

Tonight, Abington voters will address a 5 article Special Town Meeting warrant and a 25 article Annual Town Meeting warrant.

The Finance Committee is recommending passing over 4 of the 5 articles on the Special Town Meeting warrant because, according to the warrant, funding for the expenses was made available through a prior inter-departmental fund transfer.

Among the articles on the Annual Town Meeting warrant is the budget for next year – $40.2 million. Article 12 asks voters to approve $725,000 for a Comprehensive Water Resources Management Plan. Article 16 proposes a temporary moratorium on medical marijuana facilities in town through June 30, 2014. Article 21, if approved, would restore the land known as “Griffin’s Dairy” back to agricultural use.

Abington Town meeting convenes at 7:00 p.m. at the high school.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
