Charges are being filed in connection with a serious weekend motor crash in Bridgewater.

24-year old Dennis McElhinney of West Bridgewater will face several charges including texting while driving, marked lanes violation, and negligent operation of a vehicle from a mobile phone use resulting in injury.

Police say McElhinney was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound on Rt. 18, around 6 a.m, when his vehicle crossed the center line and crashed head-on with a truck driven by 52-year-old Mark Gerety of Brockton. Police say the crash took place in Bridgewater, on Bedford Street (Rt. 18/28) at the intersection of Administration Road.

McElhinney then hit another vehicle–a Cadillac driven by 44-year-old Margaret Saucier of Rockland.

McElhinney is in critical condition at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Gerety was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton with non-life threatening injuries.

Saucier was not injured in the crash.
