Middleboro: Woman charged with hit and run, seriously injuring ex-boyfriend

A 42-year-old Halifax woman has been charged with hit and run after police found her former boyfriend in the middle of Route 105 in Middleboro with severe injuries on Thursday at 6:30 a.m. Middleboro Officer Peter J. Vanasse said the victim, 47-year-old Arthur Landry of Halifax, was unable say what happened before he was airlifted to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston.

Within minutes of the hit and run, Halifax police pulled over a woman matching a witness’s description of a blonde woman in a blue mustang fleeing the scene.

Laurie Conefrey, 42, of Halifax, told Vanasse she argued with Landry, her former boyfriend, after picking him up on River Street to take him to work. Vanasse said Conefrey claimed she threw Landry out of her car and he jumped on the hood as she sped away. Conefrey has been charged with reckless driving and hit and run. Depending on the outcome of Vanasse’s investigation Conefrey could face more charges.
