Scituate: Parishoners make final Vatican appeal to save their church

They’ve been at it eight years, and now some parishioners who’ve been holding a round-the-clock vigil at a closed church in Scituate are praying for a miracle like they never have before.

The Vatican’s highest court has denied their latest bid to save St. Francis X. Cabrini, but the parishioners are making a last-ditch appeal, even though they know such an effort has never succeeded.

A spokesman for the Boston Archdiocese is calling for an end to the vigil, saying cardinal Sean O’Malley has been “extremely patient.”
