Carver: Near-tragedy on Independence Day

It was almost a Fourth of July tragedy in Carver.

A woman called 911 to report a possible drowning at Sampson’s Pond.

Crews arriving on-scene found several people performing CPR.

The victim, an unidentified Boston man, was first taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, then flown to a Boston-area hospital, where he’s now listed in stable condition.

Authorities are crediting the quick action of citizens for saving the man’s life.
