Plymouth: Boston police officer arraigned on explosives charges

The man arrested as a result of the explosives scare on Paddington Way in West Plymouth Thursday, appeared in court for arraignment Friday. Police charged Kirk Merricks with numerous counts of illegal possession of military grade explosives.

Plymouth police and the state police bomb squad found explosives and ammunition in the house Merricks previously shared with his wife and her son. He moved out May 31st. They’re in the process of divorcing.

Merrick’s attorney, Eric Goldman, says police have not linked his client to the cache of explosives. He will return to court for a probable cause hearing Sept. 10th.
