Braintree: Police investigating death of Cohasset woman

Braintree police are investigating the death of a Cohasset woman Monday night. Police chief Russell Jenkins says the initial calls they got from the Union Street rotary sounded odd.

“There was a woman who they said was hiding behind a guardrail and rolling around in the rotary. That just looked strange,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins says when officers arrived, they found 52 year old Lydia Drew laying under the on-ramp to Route 3 and called for an ambulance. A man had pulled over and approached the officers.

“He was exiting the parking garage at the MBTA station and he felt like he just ran over something. He didn’t ever see anybody. He exited his vehicle and observed this person he had never seen prior to this contact,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins says he doesn’t anticipate any citations or charges will be brought against the driver, a 51 year old man from Pembroke.
