Marshfield, Scituate: Meeting planned with local and state government, FEMA

Representative Jim Cantwell’s office, along with Congressman Bill Keating’s office and the towns of Marshfield and Scituate are holding a meeting on September 4th at 7 p.m. at the Furnace Brook Middle School in Marshfield  to make sure residents have all the information they need. It’s about FEMA’s updated flood zone maps, which could mean skyrocketing flood insurance rates for people newly-placed in the flood zone. Marshfield and Scituate are making maps available online and at their town halls for residents to see if they’re in the zone, and the meeting will have important information on the appeal process for anyone who feels they’ve been wrongly placed in the flood zone.

WATD’s Steve Burns spoke with Representative Cantwell and Marshfield Selectmen Chair Steve Robbins.
