Plymouth County D.A.: No criminal investigation into inmate death

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s office says it has concluded its investigation into the death of an inmate Thursday, and has determined it is not a criminal matter.

Authorities say a 22-year-old jail inmate died after apparently hurting himself in his cell at Plymouth County Correctional Facility.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased Thursday as Joshua Charles of North Plymouth, Mass.

They say Charles was found unresponsive in his single cell shortly after noon Thursday and was taken to Jordan Hospital, where he died.

Authorities say Charles was being held without bail on breaking and entering charges following an arrest last month in Plymouth.

A spokesman from the D.A.’s office says there will be no criminal investigation.
