South Shore: Motorcycle crash sends victim to hospital

Authorities are investigating a motorcycle accident that had part of Rte. 3 South in the Marshfield area shut down early Saturday.

State police got a 911 call at approximately 1:15 a.m. saying the bike was lying in the road.

A trooper told WATD that the victim, identified as 27-year-old Charlie Carter of Kingston, was flown to Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston.

The hospital said he was in the trauma unit as of midday Sunday.

The investigation is ongoing but the state trooper said the driver of another vehicle apparently involved in the crash left the scene and drove to the Duxbury police station to report what happened.
