Brockton: Man accused of stealing car and drug possession

A Dedham man is due in court on Monday after a traffic stop in Brockton leads to the recovery of a stolen car and the discovery of drugs.

Police say Roberto Ruffini was pulled over at the intersection of N. Montello and Elliot Sts. in Brockton at approximately 12:40 a.m. Saturday for failing to signal when making several turns.

Officers ran the plate on the 2000 Ford Focus and learned it was reported stolen by the owner in Dedham.

They also discovered Ruffini’s license had been revoked.

A search revealed 3.5 grams of crack cocaine on him.

Police say Ruffini needed medical attention while being taken to the police station, though it’s unclear why.

He was treated at a hospital and released and will appear in Brockton District Court.
