Brockton: Man dies in fall from roof

A Brockton man is dead after he apparently fell from the roof of his Ash Street home on Saturday afternoon.

The man was believed to be doing roof work to the home because police said a ladder was found on a lower portion of the roof.

A neighbor doing yardwork next door around 1:00 p.m. heard a woman screaming.

The neighbor then rushed to the backyard and saw a man lying on his back with police already on scene performing CPR.

67 year-old Thomas Hyland later died, although his exact cause of death is not yet known.

Hyland was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
