Cohasset: Petition circulated to permanently appoint police chief

He’s been the acting police chief in Cohasset since May of 2012, and now a number of residents say it’s time to stop stalling and name Bill Quigley the permanent chief, and they’ve started a petition drive to that effect.

Former Cohasset Selectmen Paul Carlson says he and number of other supporters are going to be out collecting signatures for the petition, and Carlson says you can can also go online to and search “Quigley Cohasset to sign the petition”. There will also be a number of people in town who will be gathering signatures at public events, or at the dump, and if you need one delivered, Carlson says you can call him at 781-383-6969.

The town manager act gives acting Cohasset Town Manager Mike Milanowski the right to make the appointment, and then the board of selectmen 15 days to reject the choice, by majority vote.

The next scheduled meeting for the Cohasset board of selectmen is on September 17.
