Marshfield/Pembroke: Drivers experience morning commute traffic nightmare on Route 139

If you were stuck in traffic Monday morning on Route 139 in Marshfield and Pembroke, here’s what happened, according to the state Department of Transportation.

This week, crews are “cold planing” part of the roadway on the Marshfield-Pembroke town line between 8:30 at night and 5:30 in the morning.

But early Monday morning, the cold planer hit a buried casting and broke, forcing the contractor to do repair work, including patching and painting temporary traffic markings before the contractor could leave, thus delaying the time when the night’s work was wrapped up.

This portion of the roadwork is expected to wrap up by 5:30 this Friday morning.

Tentatively scheduled for this portion of Route 139 is night paving for Sunday night, September 22 through Friday the 27th from 8:30 PM through 5:30 AM.
