Plymouth: Pilgrim plant offline again

For the second time in less than three weeks, the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant has been taken offline.

A steam leak is being blamed for the most recent shutdown.

Carol Wightman, a spokeswoman for Entergy, the owner of the plant, said the plant was manually shut down around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, to repair what she described as “a small steam leak in the plant’s feed water system.”

Wightman noted that the leak posed no threat to public health or public safety.

The plant was offline for three days last month and when it was powered up, it was only operating at about three-quarters capacity.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
