UPDATE: Brockton: Armed robbery suspect shot and killed by police

A suspect in an armed robbery in Brockton has died after being shot by police following a chase through several communities and ended in East Bridgewater.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, the shooting happened Monday following a robbery in Brockton.

According to witnesses, the suspect showed a shotgun during the robbery and fired out the window of his vehicle during the police pursuit, which went from Brockton, through Whitman and East Bridgewater.

During the incident, a state police detective fired his weapon hitting the suspect.

An investigation into the shooting has been referred to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office so there would be no appearance of a conflict of interest.

The suspect’s identity has not been released.
