Weymouth: Preliminary election narrows the field in District 1

Becky Haugh and Angel Montanez Jr. were the winners in Tuesday’s preliminary election for the open North Weymouth town council seat.

Haugh won the most votes in all three precincts in District 1, with a total of 402. Montanez won 208 votes.

They easily defeated the three other candidates on the ballot – Dominic Giannone III, Kevin Harris and former District 1 Councilor Victor Pap III. Pap announced last month that he was not running for the seat because of health issues, but it was too late to take his name off the ballot.

The general election will take place on November 5th.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
