Braintree: Two men charged with trafficking heroin, additional charges

A three town drug trafficking investigation comes to a conclusion on Tuesday with the arrests of Justin Butler and Steven Long, both from Braintree. Police say they stopped the two on Commercial Street on Tuesday morning and found them with about 39 grams of heroin.

They had been the focus of an investigation by Braintree, Quincy, and Weymouth detectives. Police got a warrant to search Butler’s home on Elm Street in Braintree and found a small quantity of heroin, evidence of drug packaging, 192 Gabapentin pills and two vials of steroids, along with a safe containing $25,000. They say they also found a digital scale white searching Long’s house.

Both men were charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, trafficking in heroin, conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substances Act and a drug free school zone violation (Ross School). Butler was additionally charged with possession of a Class E substance.
