A Brockton firefighter is free on personal recognizance, a day after being arraigned in Brockton Superior Court. 34 year old Jeremy Madden is charged with one count each of rape and assault and battery.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s office requested five thousand dollars bail, but the DA’s office says the judge ordered Madden released on three conditions – abide by a restraining order, have no contact with the victim, and surrender his firearms.

The Brockton fire department confirmed Madden has been with them for nine years, but wouldn’t comment on whether Madden is still on duty. He’ll be back in court on February 4th, 2014 for a pretrial conference.
