E. Bridgewater: Man steals donation jar from police station

(AP) – East Bridgewater police say a 27-year-old Brockton man is facing charges after he was caught on surveillance video stealing a change jar from the lobby of the police station.

Officer Mark Harvey says the man was brought to the station to fill out a no-trespassing order, but hadn’t been arrested.

Surveillance video shows the man looking around to make sure no one is watching, then slipping the jar into the pocket of his hooded sweatshirt before heading for the exit.

Police tell The Enterprise that the jar placed in the lobby to raise donations for the department’s anti-drug DARE program, had between $15 and $20 in it.

The man seen on video taking the jar will be summoned to court to face a misdemeanor charge of larceny under $250.
