Norwell: Selectmen accept bid to build new police station

Norwell Selectmen unanimously voted Wednesday night to accept Mill City Construction as the lower of just two bidders competing for the contract to build a new police station as an addition to the existing fire station on Washington Street.

The Mill City bid, coming in at $4.7 million, is about $200,000 more than selectmen anticipated and doesn’t include $280,000 in equipment and furniture for the police station.

Norwell Special Town Meeting, scheduled for next Monday night at the Middle School, includes a $5.2 million dollar article to fund the police station.
