Quincy: Couple facing manslaughter charge for 2011 baby death in Marshfield

(AP) – A Quincy couple has been arrested on manslaughter charges in connection with the opiate poisoning death of their 5-month-old daughter.

The Plymouth district attorney’s office says 30-year-old Ryan Barry and 26-year-old Ashley Cyr were arrested Friday. Cyr also faces a reckless endangerment of a child charge.

Their daughter, Mya Barry, died in September 2011 when the family lived in Marshfield.

Investigators say they found three grams of heroin and hypodermic needles in the little girl’s bedroom. The formula in the baby’s bottle tested positive for opiates, and an autopsy determined the cause of death as opiate poisoning.

The defendants were arraigned Friday and held on $200,000 bail. They will return to court on November 8 for a pretrial hearing.
