South Shore: Series of brush fires spark due to dry conditions

A series of brush fires have popped up over the past couple days on the South Shore, including one in Marshfield on Monday night. The Marshfield brush fire was reported just past 6:30 p.m. Monday night, on about three quarters of an acre to an acre at the rear of Webster Square.

Fire crews reportedly had some difficulty accessing the site.

Marshfield Fire Chief Kevin Robinson said crews were still there at 8:00 p.m. Monday night. He also said because the ground is so dry, putting fires out like this one needs a lot of water.

There were similar brush fires earlier in the day Monday in Abington, Rochester, and at the Blue Hills Tuesday morning.
