W. Bridgewater: Town now part of proposal for Raynham slots parlor

West Bridgewater is getting in on a gambling proposal.

The town says it’s accepting an offer by Raynham Park to be considered a “surrounding community” as part of plans for a slots parlor on Rte. 138.

The designation comes after West Bridgewater town officials told the Massachusetts Gaming Commission it would only support the proposal under that condition.

The move will allow the town to negotiate with Raynham Park for funding to mitigate burdens such as increased traffic.

West Bridgewater officials say a letter will be sent to the Gaming Commission formally accepting the designation, and then negotiations will begin with Raynham Park.
