Weymouth: New science program for 6th graders

A new science program starts for some Weymouth students on Monday.

Educators from the New England Wildlife Center will combine their expertise and students’ familiarity with technology as part of the program for sixth-graders at the AbigailAdamsMiddle School.

Students and teachers will be given computers to record and research what they see on nature walks and field trips, as well as communicate with wildlife center experts.

Officials say they want to encourage curiosity and decrease students’ fear of science.

A $50,000 foundation grant is paying for the program.
