Braintree: Voters elect first female and youngest member to town councilor

Braintree voters made history at the polls Tuesday night by electing their first female town councilor, and by electing a 24-year-old to the 6-year-old town council.

New Town Councilor, Shannon Hume, won her bid for one of the three at large seats on the council. She will be joined by incumbent Councilors At Large, Sean Powers and Charles Ryan.

District 4 elected to send Stephen O’Brien to the Town Council, and Michael J. Owens was elected to represent District 5.

Owens, at 24-years-old, makes him the youngest person to ever serve on the Town Council. Also, Cyrill Chafe and George Kokoros will be joining incumbent David Ringius for a four year term on the School Committee.
