Duxbury: Person hurt trying to rescue deer struck by a car

A woman suffered serious injuries in Duxbury Tuesday night while trying to rescue an animal that had been struck by a car and killed. It all started when a deer crossed the road in the area of Summer Street and Delorenzo Drive.

Several motorists had  pulled over in an attempt to help rescue the deer, but when they were unsuccessful, and started walking back toward their parked vehicles, one of them, a woman, was hit by an oncoming car. She was taken to South Shore Hospital with what police described as serious injuries. No word on the name or condition of the victim.

The accident remains under investigation. So far, no citation has been issued to the driver of the Toyota RAV4 that struck the woman.
