Middleboro: $51,000 stolen from ATM

The FBI is investigating a break-in at an ATM machine in Middleboro. Police say a bandit pried open the back door of an ATM, cut off the back of the money machine and made off with $51,000 in cash sometime over the weekend.

The heist went unnoticed until 7:30 a.m. this morning.

Police Chief Bruce Gates said it appears the alarm system was bypassed at the stand alone Harbor One ATM in the New England Farms parking lot on Route 44.

Gates said the robbery looks to be an inside job by someone who knew the operation or was familiar with the construction of an ATM.
