Middleboro: Concerns raised about trash trains parked near the town’s gas plant

Two fires aboard trash trains at the layover yard in Middleboro have Gas & Electric Commissioner Glenn Montapert on edge because they’re parking the trains overnight near the town owned gas plant. Montapert says it’s a disaster waiting to happen.

CSX trains are parking under the Center Street overpass, and the fires not only threaten motorists, but the gas plant is less than 200-feet away, Fire Chief Lance Benjamino says.

Benjamino has had no luck persuading CSX to stop parking the trains near the gas plant, but in an email to WATD, spokesperson Gary Sease promised CSX would look into the matter.
