Quincy: Brush fire causes concern about area homes

A wind-whipped brush fire kept crews in Quincy busy for a while Sunday afternoon.

Deputy Fire Chief Ed Fenby told WATD the blaze consumed five acres off of Quarry St.

He said the high winds spread a lot of smoke around the city, prompting a lot of calls from residents worried about their homes.

Four engines and a ladder truck were sent to fight the flames at an old garbage dump.

Fenby said the hilly terrain made accessing the area difficult, but crews were able to douse the flames.

No structures were damaged or evacuated.
