Quincy: Man, 2 children struck by vehicle driven by 83-year-old

Quincy police are investigating why a vehicle driven by an 83-year-old Milton man struck a father and his two children while they were crossing a local street.

The 7-year-old boy suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries after being struck on Quincy Avenue on Saturday night. He was treated at Boston Children’s Hospital. The 6-year-old girl and their father were treated there for minor injuries. Their mother was with them at the time of the incident, but she was not hit.

Police say the man and his children got off an MBTA bus and were trying to cross the street when they were struck at about 7:45 p.m. It’s not clear if they were in a crosswalk.

The driver of the vehicle stopped after the accident and hasn’t been charged, but police are looking into the circumstances.

Police say they were not in a crosswalk at the time, and alcohol or drugs do not seem to be factors in the incident.
