Scituate: Special Town Meeting to vote on library expansion and water pipe improvement and replacement

Money articles dominate the 13-article Special Town Meeting warrant in Scituate.

Article 4 asks for a $965,500 transfer from available funds into the Stabilization Fund to replace amounts transferred to pay Fiscal 2013 bills for Hurricane Sandy, the November Nor’easter and two other storms.

Article 7 is for $73,000 to rehabilitate the Town Pier.

Article 8 is for new fire apparatus. The article seeks $375,000 from the Capital Stabilization Fund and $600,000 that would be borrowed or transferred from available funds in the town treasury.

The two big-ticket money articles are articles 11 and 12.

Article 11 is for $22,000,000 for a water pipe improvement and replacement project.

Article 12 is for an override for $12,000,000 for the renovation and expansion of the Scituate Town Library.

Special Town meeting gets underway at 7:00 tonight at Scituate High School.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
