Cohasset: New town manager selection delayed

Selectmen in Cohasset thought it might be possible to name a new town manager this week – but that’s not going to happen.

One of the three candidate finalists, Grady Miller, couldn’t make the interview this week, so now that interview has been scheduled for December 16.

Selectman Steve Gaumer has also requested additional information from town manager search firm The Collins Center, regarding candidate credit checks.

Selectmen Chair Fred Koed said, “Mr. Gaumer was interested in finding exactly what criteria and standards were applied – what metrics – to the credit reports, so that he has a better understanding of how those candidates were judged on the credit reports.”

Koed said the board also wants to check on any past litigation the town manager candidates may have been involved in.

“We discussed doing a public records search on civil litigation, what the scope of that might be, what type of cases we might be concerned about or not. Basically we decided that our Vice-Chair Diane Kennedy is going to call each candidate and just have a chat and at the time of selection that we would, along with the contract, just have a short form asking the same question again, so that it’s documented.”

Selectmen have declared a firm date of either December 16 or 17, to name a new town manager.
