Congressman Bill Keating is coming to Marshfield on Monday to update the town on the latest developments in the FEMA flood maps situation.
Both Marshfield and Scituate submitted appeals to FEMA maps contending there are flaws in the maps which would expand flood zones and trigger huge flood insurance rate increases.
In November, FEMA told Marshfield its appeals met the criteria and would be considered. There is also federal legislation in the works to amend the Biggert-Waters Act and delay the implementation of FEMA’s maps.
Marshfield Board of Selectmen Chairman Steve Robbins says that while he doesn’t know what update Congressman Keating is planning to give, he’s hoping it’s good news.
“We’re all hoping that it is positive,” Robbins said. “I believe that if the Congressman is taking the time to come to speak to us that he does have a positive update.”
The Marshfield Board of Selectmen are meeting on Monday, December 16, 7:30 p.m. at the Seth Ventress Hall at 76 South River Street.
