Stabbing suspect John Barsell

A Middleboro man wanted for two counts of attempted murder will be arraigned Monday in Wareham District Court.

John Barsell, 52, of Apartment 2, 49 North Main St., Middleboro, was hiding out in Quincy and captured on Saturday night by a joint task force that included Middleboro detectives, Quincy police and the State Police Fugitive Apprehension Team.

Barsell is charged in connection to a triple stabbing on Christmas morning that left two men with serious injuries.

A woman was also stabbed but did not require hospitalization.

Police say a melee erupted between Barsell and the victims over beer.

The victims staggered into the police station just after 3 a.m. on Dec. 25 and were taken by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

Barsell was held on $50,000 bail and charged with two-counts of attempted murder and 3-counts of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
