Norwell: Goundbreaking ceremony planned for new police station

The town of Norwell is planning a groundbreaking ceremony next Monday morning, to kick off the construction of the new police station, which is an addition to the existing fire station on Washington Street.

Police Chief Ted Ross said, “On Monday, December 23 at 9 AM, The Town of Norwell will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new police station. Elected officials will be present; police chief, fire chief, the general contractor and project manager. It will be a nice way to kick-off the new police station.”

Chief Ross says the construction of the new $5.2 million dollar police station has been a long time coming.

“It has been a very long time coming. Seven years working on the project. I know the officers are thrilled to be in a new, state of the art building.”

Construction of the new police station is scheduled to be completed in about a year.
