Rockland: Solar project moving faster than expected

There’s good news on a couple of fronts regarding solar energy in Rockland.

Town officials believe the Beech St. landfill solar project will be finished ahead of schedule and will generate more power than they thought.

Rockland will buy the electricity at a discounted rate, saving several hundred thousand dollars in utility costs.

The solar panels will reportedly provide 75 percent of the power used by town municipal buildings.
