Scituate: Architect chosen for public safety building

An architect has been chosen to draw up a schematic design for a public safety building in Scituate and selectmen are expected to finalize the contract at their meeting tomorrow night.

In all, nine proposals for the project were submitted.

The firm, Dore & Whittier, is also working on the town’s Gates Intermediate School project.

The $60,000 design will look at the needs for combined police and fire dispatching in addition to an emergency command center.

There are three potential sites for the project, including the current police station, the Ellis Estate, and a playground.
