Carver Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Center Street and Wenham Road around 11:15 Saturday night. Reports came in to dispatch of an occupant trapped in a vehicle that had rolled over, so Carver Fire and EMS responded as well. Upon arrival, officers found a 2002 Ford Van with Texas license plates on its side. A passerby had helped the operator exit the vehicle. The driver, a 57 year-old Texas man, was transported to Beth Israel Hospital.
After an investigation, it was determined that the van was traveling too fast for the corner and crashed thru a street sign and a stop sign as well as hitting a snow bank causing the vehicle to slide sideways into the median island where a stone monument was wiped out by the side of the van as it rolled over several times landing on the driver’s side in a yard at 1 Wenham Road. The road was closed for about one hour while crews cleaned up and the DPW came and plowed and re-sanded the road. The accident is under investigation.
