Hull: House fire seriously injures resident

A Hull man is in serious condition after a fire tore through his house.

Fire Captain Kevin Breen told WATD that crews were called to the home at 1092 Nantasket Ave. shortly after midnight Sunday and were met by the homeowner.

The unidentified 62-year-old man was airlifted to Brigham and Womens’ Hospital in Boston with severe burns on his arms and back.

Breen said icy conditions and bitterly cold winds hampered efforts to battle the flames.

A firefighter injured his knee after slipping on the ice.

It took about six hours to clear the scene.

Breen said investigators are looking at a space heater as a possible cause of the fire.
