Marshfield: Intrepid swimmers start new year on “refreshing” note

Some people’s idea of starting the New Year on a refreshing note includes a refreshing dip in the frigid ocean waters off Rexhame Beach. Elks clubs from throughout the South Shore put the event today on hoping to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.

“It was freezing!” one girl from Norwell proclaimed. “It was fun but very cold. It’s a new year, new beginning! It’s been on our bucket list for a while.”

The event raised $7,500 last year. The Wounded Warrior Project works to help returning service members transition to everyday life.
