Norwell: Authorities investigate explosive devices

Authorities are investigating, after some explosive devices were found in Norwell.

Fire chief Andrew Reardon told WATD the first call came in at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Crews were sent to the area of Grove St. and Prospect St. on a report of smoke coming from a wooded area behind a home.

Reardon said five or six devices were found, and the state Fire Marshal’s office said it’s believed they were chemical in nature.

The State Police bomb squad was called in to remove the devices.

No one was hurt and no evacuations were ordered.

It took about five hours to clear the scene.

It’s unclear whether there are any suspects in the case.
