Weymouth: Man charged with attempted murder for attacking clerk with tire iron

Weymouth Police have arrested a man for attempted murder, after he allegedly attacked an employee at a dry cleaner with a tire iron.

Police say they responded to Mary’s Dry Cleaners on Pleasant Street at around 6 p.m. Wednesday, where a female clerk said that a white male entered the store and tried to rob her with a tire iron.

The clerk tried to escape and a violent struggled ensue during which the suspect allegedly attempted to strangle the victim and assaulted her several times. The victim managed to escape, and the suspect fled on foot without any money.

Police fit the description of the suspect to 36-year-old David Long of Roberts Drive. Long was arrested and faces a number of charges including attempted murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
