Monday night, the Scituate Board of Health is expected to take a key vote on the future of e-cigarettes in town, with tougher regulations likely.
Public health officials say the electronic cigarettes will probably fall under the same restrictions now governing regular cigarettes.
Sales of individual cigars will likely be banned in favor of a mandate that they come in packs of at least four.
Hookah bars would also be forbidden in Scituate.
The National Association of Development Organizations has sent a letter to the Board of Health opposing the tighter restrictions, but the town’s public health director believes they’ll be approved.
Also under consideration is whether to raise the age limit for buying cigarettes.
